
Throwing a Kentucky Derby Theme Party for a Kid’s Birthday
The Kentucky Kingdom opens its doors on 4th of July to celebrate America’s birthday. The entire city is decorated with red, white and blue and lots of great food and fun-based activities. From Kentucky Fried Chicken to fireworks there is plenty of things to do to get in the spirit of the holiday. Many kids will love a trip to the Kentucky Zoo or the Kentucky State Fair. While adults can enjoy Independence Day fireworks at the Firehouse across the street.
For an afternoon of fun you can head over to the Kentucky Derby Museum and Casino for one last Kentucky Derby celebration. Many times children get into the birthday crowd and take part in the derby festivities by dressing up as a horse or a cow. You can also sit on the lap of a lifetime winner and enjoy watching the race. It is definitely an entertaining way to end a day at the birthday venue. If you want to get away from the birthday celebration, you can catch the parade, which goes on until approximately midnight.
Other events include parades and concerts at the Kentucky State Fair. Live entertainment is provided by local country music stars. The open air concerts are filled with fun and free music.
When night falls the Kentucky Kingdom becomes a bonfire night carnival. Fireworks lighting up the sky and the celebration starts. This is a special occasion in which all family members get together to celebrate. When the parade finally ends, partygoers can enjoy live music from some of the area’s top bands. There is no charge for the parade and food is usually included.
