Kidorable is an online children’s clothing company that looks to bring imagination back into the lives of its customers. Through novelty rainwear, backpacks, knitwear and towels, it transforms everyday and functional accessories into ones designed to enrich play.
The company was launched by Chicago based couple, Jonathan Domsky and Liping Yang. Focusing on bringing unique children’s accessories to the market, they attended their first trade event – Chicago’s Women’s and Children’s Fashion Apparel Show – in May 1997, where their brightly coloured products generated a high degree of interest. From here, designer Yang went on to create additional lines including raincoats, boots and backpacks which helped the business to thrive throughout the economic downfall.
The whimsical design of their products has since been copied and repeated numerous times over the world – a fact that Kidorable fight every day with up to ‘four to eight lawsuits’ at any given time, according to Domsky. Their styles have become coveted by children and adults everywhere.
The company’s most popular product is the Ladybug umbrella design, which has since been featured in numerous publications. The umbrella has also been spotted on Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise by People Magazine in 2009 – allowing the business to grow in popularity overnight. Other products from their extensive rainwear collection are also regularly featured on Good Morning America and NBC Today – giving great publicity to this ever-growing business.
Kidorable accessories are now sold in a number of leading department stores, including Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Lord & Taylor. Their new releases continue to focus on bringing joy to each of their younger customers while stirring up a sense of nostalgia for the adults too.
