It’s the 4th of July once again this year and as usual, the question to many Americans is “is St staples open?” The answer is not yet known. Since this is the fourth straight July without a National Park, it may not be an open holiday in many states. The best guess is that they will close until President Obama has officially declared it. Then again, no one really knows for sure because the White House has not addressed the situation.
A celebration like this is usually about pride and celebration. Americans have a long history of celebrating this day. Originally, after the Revolutionary War, it was called quarters day. This was when American soldiers were given credit for helping out in the war and was also the first day that Americans could burn Independence Day candles.
Since that time, the tradition has changed slightly but has always returned to the same theme. While we still typically have Independence Day celebrations, we also now have the other major holiday that is celebrated every year. It is the day after Christmas and the day before New Years. Although many of us do not actually celebrate Independence Day with the same enthusiasm as we did during the time of the American Revolution, we do mark the day with much the same fervor.
When the Fourth of July gets closer, it can get quite the headache for those in the know. Since there are several states hosting this celebration, we have yet to actually find out which of them actually celebrate this day with a great deal of fervency. There is always the assumption that if there is a state that does not officially name the day Independence Day, then it is technically considered to be a private celebration.
If you live in one of the fifty United States, you are most likely to find Independence Day celebrated somewhere. If there are no official state celebrations, the most common idea is to use the fourth Thursday in July as the designated day for the national holiday. This date is widely regarded as the date that proclaims the birth of the country. In addition to being the national day of Americana, the holiday is widely regarded as the birthday party of the United States. Traditionally, 4th of July is also a time when we are supposed to buy fireworks and shoot off various objects to show our patriotism.
There are several different types of celebrations that take place on this day. The ones that are the most common include general pot-luck meals, barbecues, as well as outdoor sporting events. Generally, if you want to go all out, you will probably want to make your own menu items. This way, you can be sure that what you serve is truly patriotic food. If you decide to make a meal at a restaurant, it is often best to order from a caterer that has some knowledge of food celebrations. That way, they can provide you with the most appealing menu options.
