What does “White Elephant” refer to, and what is that weird stuff going on with my life? Recently I got into an online argument (that thankfully was resolved in a friendly way) with someone who said that she didn’t know what the white stuff was; she didn’t know what white meant, she didn’t understand that all white things are not nice, and she didn’t even know that rhinoceros were a kind of animal. Wow, so let me ask you something; if you don’t know what a white elephant is, did you know what a hippo looks like? I am just asking because there is no way on Earth that hippos look anything like a horse.
If the person who commented on my blog that a white elephant is a stupid animal, well I have some news for them; it’s time to admit that you don’t know what an animal is. Ask yourself this question; how do you know what a dog looks like? How do you know what a cat looks like? What about dogs, what do they look like?
You see, animals are living, breathing things that react to stimulus, and animals do NOT look the same in every species. So, when someone says that the white of a hippo is a different color than that of a horse, well, hippos look the same in all species, except for the color of their skin. Horses, cats, dogs, and all other kinds of animals have skin color of various hues. There is not one single species of any animal that can be colored white.
Now then, I say that a hippo does not resemble a horse in every detail, but there is something that is very similar about them. I think that the most likely thing that a hippo resembles is an alligator. An alligator would probably have webbed feet, and that might explain why the writer of the post above said that hippos are nothing alike. And yes, alligators do have webbed feet; this is just something that I picked up along the way.
A lily-of-the-valley is also another example of an animal that does look like a horse, yet it is not a horse. The alligator is an animal with long legs, and you can tell that the legs are long because they are long. The lily-of-the-valley is an animal with a round body, and this again is because it is a lily. The alligator is definitely not a reptile. Not a reptile at all.
A white elephant is a white animal, period. No other color is needed, as they are all white. When I say white, I mean white in all of the proper measurements. If you are ever told that a white animal is black with white spots or stripes, then that animal is not a white elephant, and you should run as far away as you possibly can, because it is probably a hippo. Or a pig.
