A warm, summer day in Minehead couldn’t possibly end any better with the arrival of “Is Michaels Open on 4th of July” fireworks! Music to the ears of kids at heart as well as adults. Kids of all ages are usually up for anything from running around to building things. There’s nothing better than seeing a small child with a big red balloon. My son loves them as much as I do and we head out of town every year for a blast. In Minehead we go to Alton Towers which has been spectacular every year since their opening in 2021.
Is Michaels Open on 4th of July also a brilliant way to see the countryside? The views from atop Mt Fox is breathtaking and well worth the hike. We love to take pictures of the fireworks display from above. When the fireworks are gone the land is pretty calm and there is a feeling of peace. This is usually the time I have my best views of the fireworks display from the ground.
We love to cycle when it is not raining. We take the bikes down to the valley and pedal to a local farm that is only an hour or two away. The owner is a very friendly type of guy and always welcomes us with a cup of tea or a slice of bread. He also has a farm store that is open on Independence Day. It is a real treat to be able to buy fresh milk, cheeses, honey, local produce and locally baked goods.
We love eating popcorn and watching fireworks. It is a combination of our two favorite things. Sometimes we go way out of town to eat in one of the restaurants in Minehead. The food is just as good as it is when we are home so the journey doesn’t disappoint. We love to sample new flavors as well.
I love walking through the woods when the sun is shining. The people who live in the villages tend to be quite elderly, but it is not a matter of age for them. They are always happy to show off their gardens to visitors. It is a joy to me to know they are proud of their gardens and plants and use them on a regular basis.
On the day we chose to celebrate the fourth of July we all gathered at the cabin of one of our relatives. It was a great gathering of old friends and we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of grilling, playing cards, talking and of course shooting the fireworks. As we left the lodge we were all in the same boat and it felt good to come back as a family. Now I can look back and wish we would have done something about the water pollution.
