Lowe’s is a well known name in home improvement retail, but is it any better than its competitors? In fact, does Lowe’s offer any real value when compared with other retailers? We’ve compiled some information on the prices offered by the Lowe’s chain and also compared them with those of another popular hardware store – Home Depot.

How much does Lowe’s charge for materials?
If you want to get an idea of how much Lowe’s charges for materials, you simply have to look at their website. The first thing you’ll notice is that they don’t list their products online at all. Instead, you’d have to visit a store location and then try to find the product through their catalogs. For example, if you wanted to buy a ceiling fan – you’d have to go see a store and browse through their catalog until you found the right model.
The problem with this approach is that Lowe’s doesn’t keep track of inventory anywhere near as closely as most retailers. This means that you could end up buying something from a different store (like a competitor) that sells the exact same item for less money. You may not be able to get a lower price from Lowe’s themselves, so you might want to shop around before making your purchase.
How much does Lowe’s charge for labor?
The labor costs are pretty simple to figure out. Lowe’s has a “price guarantee” policy. If you find a lower priced job elsewhere, you can bring it to Lowe’s and they will either match the price or provide you with a refund. However, you will still need to pay the normal sales tax on top of that, which adds a few bucks to your bottom line.
It should also be noted that Lowe’s offers discounts to employees, contractors and students. Just make sure you ask about any special deals before you sign up for one of their services!
What about delivery time?
When shopping for large items such as refrigerators, ranges, or air conditioners, Lowe’s offers free delivery to homes within 50 miles of their store locations. That’s great if you live in that area, but it’s not always possible to schedule deliveries during peak hours. So, if you need to order appliances during the weekdays, it may take longer to receive them than it would if you ordered them on Saturday morning.
On the other hand, if you live more than 50 miles away from the nearest Lowe’s, you won’t receive any delivery perks at all. They will only deliver to customers who live within 75 miles of their closest store location.
Does Lowe’s have a return policy?
Yes, Lowe’s does indeed offer a 30 day return policy for many of their products. If you’re unhappy with your purchase, all you have to do is bring it back to the store within 30 days of receiving it and ask for a full refund. Keep in mind that you will have to cover shipping costs yourself, however.

Does Lowe’s price match?
Unlike Home Depot, Lowe’s does not actually price match its own products. However, you can definitely compare them against the competition and save yourself money. Let’s start with Home Depot.
Home Depot currently offers a $4 off coupon for every $100 spent on qualifying purchases. This means that you can get back $4 on $100 worth of merchandise. This works out to around $1 per dollar spent. Pretty good!
Walmart also offers a similar deal where you can get back $3 per $50 spent in grocery coupons. Again, this works out to roughly $1 per dollar spent.
Now let’s move on to Lowe’s.
Lowe’s does not offer any kind of discount coupons. However, they do have a price guarantee policy where they will match the lowest price you find for an identical item. This means that you can use the above mentioned $4 and $3 coupons at Lowe’s to get exactly the same amount of cash back you would get at Home Depot and Walmart respectively.
So, while Lowe’s doesn’t offer the best prices in terms of coupons, their price matching policy makes for a very competitive comparison.
